Yes. Homeschooling is legal in all Canadian provinces and territories. By law, you are required to provide your child(ren) a satisfactory learning experience at your own expense. There is no funding in Ontario for homeschooling and you can not claim a fee for your homeschooling support. The government does not interfere or follow up your homeschooling, unless there is reason to believe the welfare of the child is in jeopardy.
Yes. In Ontario, if your child is presently in public school you will need to give the school board written notification of your intent to homeschool. Let us know if you need a copy of the letter and we will email it to you.
Yes. Homeschooling children can return to school at any point in time. The Ontario Education Act allows for you to start homeschooling anytime and also to return to the school system at any time during the school year. If your child is returning to elementary school, they would most likely place by age. If they are returning at the high school level, there may be a placement test.
Our hygiene protocols include environmental cleaning and disinfection, hand hygiene
practices, risk reduction methods for washrooms.
Safety is a top priority at New Numinous Microschool! Educators are required to adhere to all safety requirements and student confidentiality by keeping students’ information private.
Educators have CPR and first aid certifications, as well as background checks done. Educators are trained to create a safe and supportive learning environment where students can come as they are and enjoy an incredible educational experience.
We are following the overall expectations of the literacy and numeracy Ontario Curriculum. We are seamlessly weaving the big ideas, and conceptual understandings through nature, play and inquiry (child led experiences).
We support documenting the unique learning journey of each individual child through observations and conversations. Parents will be receiving communication through photos and written anecdotal notes weekly to witness the progression of their child’s learning journey.
